Waverly Elementary/Middle School is about one mile from the Johns Hopkins Homewood campus located on 34th Street between Frisby Street and Ellerslie Avenue in Baltimore, MD. The school currently exists as two separate elementary and middle school buildings, but in January 2014 a new building will open to accommodate all students.
Why Waverly School?
Waverly School is a Title 1 elementary and middle school with 92% of the students receiving Free and Reduced Meals (FARM) and 76% of the students coming from low income families. Currently, the school does not have funding for a health or P.E. curriculum. The Food as Medicine Program works with the students to partially fill this gap while also working to enhance students’ science and writing skills!
